A friend of mine, Dustin, mailed me some guitar picks to try out. Most of them were Swiss picks. Didn't do anything for me. Another was an XL Jazz III pick. Kind of liked that one, but still nothing like the 6mm Gravity Pick. Also a Dunlop Ultex Sharp. HATED IT INSTANTLY. Yuck!
Then, I went on to practice a string skipping (kind of) riff that finishes off my song Juggernaut.
When learning or practicing a piece of music, or section of music, it can be helpful to break things down into small chunks. This allows you to practice what you want without getting overwhelmed with having to play too much while you learn and improve.
That's what I did for today's guitar log. I broke up the ending section to Juggernaut into 3 chunks.
If you've watched the previous guitar logs you've probably heard several swear words come out of my mouth.
I'm being pretty real to who I am when I practice. I'm not holding back! Swearing seems to help with easing frustration. There's more chromatic work in this guitar log too.
Sometimes you can add just one note to something you're working on. I feel this approach really helps you get VERY familiar with what you're working on.
That's what I did for this guitar log.
The chromatic run has proven to be a pain in the butt for me!
This guitar log shows what I did to troubleshoot this note cluster. |
What kind of guitar practice does it take to see real results?
The Mile High Shred guitar log are video logs that show how I practice, what I practice, etc. These videos back up the things I tell students to do when practicing, and gives you a direct look at how improving your speed and accuracy is done. Some videos are just documenting my fudging around. Gotta have SOME fun! AuthorJohn Taylor, guitar teacher for Mile High Shred. ArchivesCategories
