Play Guitar Faster Than You Ever Thought Possible

I accredit my ability to play 16th notes above 300 bpm to a specific way of practicing with the metronome. This is something I learned from my guitar teacher, Eric Morrison.
The old advice of starting slow and building it up is definitely what I did, but there's definitely a right way and a wrong way to this approach. The right way of using the metronome is what you learn in the Metronome Method. |

Progressive Overload Training
|
In order to play faster than you currently can, you need to push yourself. Just like bodybuilders and weight lifters, using the Progressive Overload principle will absolutely get you faster.

Drastically Reduce Practice Time
In just 10 - 20 minutes per day you can absolutely make serious progress with your speed and accuracy. Spending several hours a day is not only unnecessary, it can make things worse if you overdo it!

Basically, that person was stuck for MONTHS with that solo, and after only ONE DAY of using the Metronome Method he got the solo up to speed.

Know How To Practice
The Metronome Method lays out how many notes you should be playing per click, when to move to more notes per click, when to reduce the notes, how long you should practice, how to break plateaus, etc.

Hi John,
my enthusiasm for the methods in your book knows no bounds.
I took a riff from the song "Agent Orange" by Sodom and am now at 198 bpm top speed.
I have never, never played so fast and also clean.
I've practiced far too slowly for years and wondered why I couldn't even do 120 bpm.
I'm so happy that I've opened a bottle of beer for now.
Based on your recommendation, I bought the Boss DB-30 and put my drum machine in the drawer.
Practicing with the metronome is much more fun because I can finally hear how and what I'm playing and my tone isn't overlaid by double bass banging.
I will now work with your book every day and do everything I want because after almost 10 years I finally know how to practice.
I can't thank you enough!
