This etude is focused on down picking. It uses a half-whole diminished scale starting on the low E string, then switches to starting on the A string.
The 8th note sections are there for a break from the faster picking, and are there to show you what's going to be played in the faster picked parts. All the 16th notes are palm-muted. Here are the tab files for this etude:
