This etude, written in Em, is designed for pushing your picking speed and endurance for metal guitar playing.
First, we have quarter notes to show what notes are going to be used during the 16th notes portion, as well as helping you lock on to the beat/tempo. Then, we switch to 8th notes to further establish the tempo, help prepare the mind for going faster, and show the progression of notes going back down. Last, we go up and down the same notes shown with the quarter and 8th notes, but this time you play 16th notes. The etude starts on the low E string, goes up to the A string, then up to the D string, back to the A string, and finishes back on the low E string. Each time you start a quarter note section, you get some slight rest before having to push yourself again. Here is the tablature for this etude: (please adjust the tempo to better suit your playing abilities and goals)
